9. Empty Seats At AEW Dynamite
While it initially looked like AEW's first episode of Dynamite had continued the promotion's habit of selling their shows out in ridiculously quick fashion, things have taken a number of turns since tickets went on sale on 2 August.
Tickets hit the secondary market with prices as low as $6 in some areas of the building. It looked very much like a situation of surplus supply, with scalpers grossly overestimating demand and buying up unnecessarily large volumes of tickets that they are still struggling to shift at the time of writing.
Here's what the Dynamite ticket map currently looks like (h/t NoDQ.com for the research):-
Some of these tickets will likely get snapped up before Dynamite hits the airwaves, but there's still a worrying amount of purple and blue dots inside that arena. Thus, we can expect all kinds of empty seat images to flood the internet on Wednesday night and Thursday evening, potentially leaving the nascent promotion red-faced.
It'll be interesting to see how AEW might deal with this. They could take the WWE route and shuttle fans over to one side of the building, thus creating the illusion of a packed arena as while this is technically still a "sellout," it probably won't be full.
