Predicting WWE's WrestleMania XL Cards 1 Year Out

WrestleMania returns, retirements and AEW leaps; predicting WWE's supershow one year out!

It's been a quiet week in pro wrestling.

Seriously though, WrestleMania 39 was just the tip of the iceberg. WWE merged with UFC, Vince McMahon is back running amok making all sorts of changes, and Bad Bunny might be set to headline a company pay-per-view. What next? Cats and dogs living together? MASS HYSTERIA!

It takes a brave soul, then, to go deep into the weeds of WWE creative (somewhere Vinnie Mac would never go) and predict what might happen at next year's supershow. 'Mania 40, eh? You might be wondering how the annual pay-per-view powerhouse reached this point - WWE is going XL in 2024, perhaps in more ways than one.

This list predicts WrestleMania returns and retirement matches. It also suggests that one of AEW's biggest homegrown stars could be set to follow Cody Rhodes' example by jumping over from Tony Khan's world into Vince's bold new... Endeavor.

Then, there's the not-so-small (potential) implementation of those UFC legacy stars and Hollywood favourites coming back for one last hurrah. Is this what 'Mania XL's card will look like come 6-7 April next spring?

It could be...

10. AJ Styles Vs. Edge

There was a far away look in Edge's eyes as he celebrated a thumping HIAC win over Finn Bálor at 'Mania 39. It's almost like the 'Rated-R' legend knows he won't get to experience that sort of thing many more times. Someone else watching the career clock tick down? One AJ Styles.

They'd be perfect opponents. Yes, again.

Both guys did to battle at WrestleMania 38, but the circumstances were different back then. Being brutally honest, they kinda got lost in the shuffle a wee bit too. Would that change with another go-around? Maybe/maybe not, but it'd be great to see them go out on dual highs by producing an absolute banger.

AJ wasn't even featured on this year's cards, which is a shame considering he must be close to calling time on an epic run. So, 12 months from now, stick him in there with someone else on the cusp of retirement and say, 'G'wan, lads - improve on 2021!'.
