Attempting not to use hindsight to cloud the judgement of the match itself is difficult, now that we know where the Uso/Reigns story has gone. At Clash Of Champions, Jey had his dream of challenging at world title level realised when he took on his cousin, Roman Reigns, for the Universal belt.

Their Hell In A Cell opener was told far better in terms of emotion and action; this was more a standard underdog coming up short against cocky heel champ. As far as common stories go, however, it's a pretty good one, told well by two excellent workers, with the family connection adding some extra spice to that impassioned climax.

Reigns cemented his new win-at-all-costs persona by demolishing his cousin until the towel came in courtesy of Jimmy, but Jey got his licks in, forcing the Universal champ to give him a beautifully worked low blow as he kicked out of a pin. Where the tale has travelled since Clash Of Champions has been fascinating to watch, and while this was merely the starting point, not the crescendo, it set us down a path that has kept Uso in and around the main event.
