Ranking All Of Chris Jericho's WWE Tag Team Partners
Where does Kevin Owens rank among Chris Jericho's best partners ever?
Following AJ Styles' monumental WWE World Championship win at last Sunday's Backlash pay-per-view, it was then observed by a few fans that he and WWE Universal champion Kevin Owens had something in common. Both of them teamed with Chris Jericho before going on to win their premier world titles in WWE. As cool of a stat as that is, they aren't the only ones who teamed with Y2J before finding success on their own.
Needless to say, Jericho is best known for having been WWE's inaugural Undisputed Champion, as well as a record-setting nine-time Intercontinental Champion. But for as many titles as he won in singles competition, he was equally accomplished in the tag team ranks. He brought everyone he teamed with to a new level, regardless of whether they were together for a few years or even mere days.
Jeri-KO is the latest example of a tag team that Jericho helped make great via his incredible contributions, and this has been a trend for close to two decades. From Kevin Owens to The Rock, he has had a slew of phenomenal partners over the course of his career and is often underrated for his work as a tag team competitor.
Perhaps the rest of the roster should be begging Jericho to be their partner considering the track record of everyone who has ever been on the same side of the ring as him.
8. The Rock
Who would have ever thought Chris Jericho would go on to become tag team champions with the same man he interrupted his first night in WWE, The Rock?
Jericho and Rock were best known for their verbal battles and wars inside the ring but, believe it or not, there was indeed a time they were considered allies. A mere 24 hours removed from when Jericho bested The Great One to capture the WCW Championship at 2001's No Mercy pay-per-view event, they teamed on Raw to challenge The Dudley Boyz for the World Tag Team Championship.
Despite hardly being on the same page, they managed to coexist long enough to wrestle away the straps from the ECW alumni. They had the potential to be a brilliant pairing but, of course, their days as partners were short-lived. The dynamic duo of Jericho and Rock wound up losing the straps to Booker T and Test a mere week and a half later on SmackDown.
Instead of putting their differences aside to reclaim the championships, they instead rekindled their rivalry and continued to trade the WCW title back and forth in the weeks and months that followed.
