Ranking Every “I Quit” Match in WWE History
6. Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy: Backlash 2009
No feud was more personal in 2009 than the one between Matt and Jeff Hardy, stemming from Matt allegedly burning down his The Charismatic Enigma's house and causing him all kinds of misery. Their first encounter, contested under extreme rules, occurred at WrestleMania 25 where Matt emerged victorious.
Their ruthless rivalry carried over to the subsequent edition of SmackDown where they met in a Stretcher match. Once again, the former ECW champion managed to get the better of his brother and secure the win. Even with the two losses, Jeff was determined on getting his retribution, challenging Matt to an "I Quit" match at Backlash.
Very rarely did Jeff bring out his darker side, but he had to for this match in order to put Matt away once and for all. Similar to their previous two encounters, they put it all on the line and stopped at nothing until the other succumbed to defeat.
Ultimately, Jeff tied Matt to a table and prepared to jump through it, and despite his best efforts to beg his brother for forgiveness, he verbally submitted. Disregarding that, Jeff gave Matt what he had coming to him, putting the rivalry to rest as a result.
