Ranking The Futures Of WWE's 9 UK Tournament Entrants
3. Joseph Conners
Anyone who watched Joseph Conners compete in WCPW will recognise his attention to detail. As a heel champion in WhatCulture's own promotion, Conners came across like Gollum from The Lord Of The Rings. Clutching the WCPW Title as though it might be the last time, Conners looked at the belt like it was 'his precious'.
On social media, several made comments comparing Conners to Seth Rollins during the WWE UK Tournament. Citing his long hair, chiselled physique, and aggressive in-ring style, these messages provide hope for the Nottingham-born grappler. If he's able to tap into his sterling heel work on the independent scene and in WCPW, the 'Righteous Killer' could become a star.
It's a compliment to Conners that he was able to stand out even when placed against the similar James Drake during the First Round. Although pinned by Mark Andrews at the quarter final stage, Conners shouldn't be disheartened.
Analysing the tournament makes it clear he wasn't one of the men WWE were really focusing on. With his performances against Drake and Andrews, that has surely changed.
