7. Elimination Chamber 2021

With everything ‘Mania focussed, some of Elimination Chamber can function more as an angle than a show of its own. We stripped Drew of his belt after a gruelling chamber match, sticking it on The Miz who cashed in for the grand total of eight days before transitioning to Lashley in readiness for April.

We also continued to build the emnity between Reigns and Bryan (a 2021 high point thus far) with the Universal Champ granting Bryan his hard fought title shot immediately after the first Chamber bout. And the baffling booking towards Sasha and Beianca Belair’s ‘Mania match continued with an unnecessary tag match.

Amid all this, though, there was some great in-ring stuff, most notably Smackdown’s chamber match. Featuring a bevy of top tier talent, this was an opportunity for Bryan, Cesaro, Kevin Owens, Zayn, Jey Uso, and (to a lesser extent) King Corbin to strut their stuff. A high quality stipulation match whose winner was genuinely up in the air.

This was a functional, place-setting show, but a breezy watch all the same, light on nonsense, high on drama, medium on really good matches.
