Rebooking WWE SummerSlam 2003: 7 Ways To Make It Better

3. Six Pack Challenge For The US Title - Benoit Vs. Guerrero Vs. Tajiri Vs. Rhyno Vs. Cena Vs. Mysterio

Eddie Guerrero was the hottest thing on Smackdown in the summer of 2003. He was the United States Champion, he was over and he was wrestling the matches of his life. Latino Heat, booked as a heel but actually getting face reactions from the crowd, could do no wrong. It was only a matter of time before he was elevated to the top, but he still had a lot to contribute to the midcard scene before his eventual ascent. Eddie spent much of 2003 feuding with (and p****ng off) Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Tajiri and Rhyno. So why not put them all together in the same match and see if Eddie could defy the odds and lie, cheat and steal his way to retaining the gold. The original SummerSlam match was similar, with Eddie taking on Tajiri, Benoit and Rhyno. That Cena and Mysterio (who wrestled Shannon Moore in a dark match) were not on the card was criminal. There are many interesting combinations of matches with those six guys and, if given enough time (say 12-15 minutes) it could be a total show-stealer. Eddie would retain his title because, well, it would be made to take it off of him, considering the hot streak he was one.
