Recent Trademark Teases New AEW PPV/Special?

Tony Khan might be lining up a brand new event for AEW fans in the new year.

AEW recently trademarked the terms, 'WrestleBowl' and 'Wrestling Bowl'.

Some fans online believe this could be the promotion's next major pay-per-view addition in 2023, but others reckon it'll be used for a special edition of Dynamite in the new year instead. So, which one is it? All Elite boss Tony Khan has produced countless TV specials (like 'Winter Is Coming', 'New Year's Smash' etc) over the past few years.

It's likely 'WrestleBowl' will be another of those. Old-school WCW fans hoping to see a quasi-comeback for that company's 'BattleBowl' concept shouldn't get too excited though - there's no proof yet that Khan's idea will be anything like it.

Indeed, there's also a chance AEW plans to frame a Dynamite special around the upcoming Super Bowl LVII festivities. That spotlight-hogging NFL game takes place on 12 February, which would mean the 8 Feb flagship would take on the 'WrestleBowl' name (possibly also the 10 Feb edition of Rampage).

That's all guesswork, but AEW have trademarked both 'WrestleBowl' and the more generic-sounding 'Wrestling Bowl' for use on programming going forwards. Hopefully, they don't try to mimic WCW's booking!
