Roman Reigns Has Even MORE Power In WWE Than You Thought

The Tribal Chief and Wise Man would have great input into a potential title change.

If you already felt like Roman Reigns' 1,060+ day run as WWE's top champion might never end, you could be in for a surprise in who will finally make the call to put a coda on this record-setting reign.

After speaking with WWE sources, Fightful Select reports that there were no active plans for Reigns to lose his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship as of WrestleMania 39 -- not to Cody Rhodes, not to Sami Zayn, and not to Jey Uso. In fact, none of this trio was ever heavily planned or scheduled to dethrone Roman.

The source told Fightful that Reigns would lose the title he's held since August 2020 “whenever Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman say it f***in' ends.” So if you see the Tribal Chief with his shoulders pinned to the mat in a title match, it's a safe bet that Roman and Heyman will have been heavily involved in determining who it is and when that happens.

"They are constantly looking at every possibility. When they think it's the very best thing for business, they'll know to switch it up, do it right, and really make someone doing it," the source told Fightful.

Interestingly, the source justified the idea of Roman and Heyman determining when to end this ride by noting their belief that Reigns is "hotter than ever," Solo Sikoa is becoming a draw, the Usos are breaking out as individual attractions on their own, and Rhodes is hotter now than he was before losing to Reigns at Mania.

Those points might have validity, but it's seriously debatable whether Cody is better off without the title, or that none of these stories and successes could have proceeded without Roman still holding both titles.

Fightful also noted that the plans surrounding Cody's title match, its outcome and the feud with Brock Lesnar after Mania were "very transparent" and Rhodes knew well in advance that he would be leaving California without the title.
