Rusev To Wear Wrestling Boots When He Returns From Injury?
Due to his foot injury, a change in appearance could be in order.
Rusev is out of action with a broken foot that will sideline him for about two months and when he returns to the ring he might be forced to wear boots when he wrestles, reports the Wrestling Observer. The injury occurred during the May 26 Smackdown tapings during a match with Ryback. There was a spot where Ryback hit a clothesline, Rusev took a standard bump over the top rope and landed on his feet before falling down. When his foot hit the ground, he was limping around and they went to a finish a couple of minutes later with him getting disqualified. There is a feeling that if he was wearing wrestling boots or even shoes of any kind it could have prevented the injury from occurring. It's rare to see WWE performers wrestling barefoot these days although Rusev has been doing it for years. Some famous wrestlers worked barefoot like Jimmy Snuka, the Wild Samoans, Yokozuna, Umaga and plenty of others. However, it's not recommended that guys wrestle without boots or shoes because then they are more injury prone. Since Rusev will be out of action for a few months, he can come back fresh with a different look that includes the new footwear. WWE has already changed his character so that he's no longer supporting Russia and is back to being the "Bulgarian Brute" since he is from Bulgaria. Rusev's injury comes at a bad time because they were doing the breakup storyline with Lana, but it may not be a bad idea for him to change things up too.
