Hot on the heels of yesterday's news that Triple H has been promoted to WWE Chief Content Officer, Shawn Michaels has now been given a new role within the company.

As first reported by CBS Sports, the Heartbreak Kid has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative.

For those wondering what exactly this new role entails, Michaels will "oversee the expansion of the NXT brand, including the expansion of NXT UK into NXT Europe" in addition to continuing to head up NXT creative and handling the development of talent in the WWE system. Previously, Shawn's title was Vice President of Talent Development Creative - meaning he's had a Senior upgrade.

The Showstopper has been working behind the scenes with NXT since 2016, and his involvement and role within the brand was increased after Paul Levesque had to step away from his duties last year to undergo and recover from heart surgery.

Nowadays a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, Shawn Michaels officially retired in 2010 at WrestleMania XXVI, before being coaxed out of said retirement in 2018 to team with Triple H against the Undertaker and Kane at that year's Crown Jewel special. This latest promotion for Michaels marks just one of many backstage WWE changes to take place since Vince McMahon resigned back in July.
