With WWE SummerSlam 2023 on the horizon for next month, there's now an update on who Seth Rollins will be defending his World Heavyweight Championship against at this next PLE.

Via the Wrestling Observer, Rollins will once again by facing Finn Balor when SummerSlam rolls around on Sunday 6 August.

Not only will this be a rematch from Money in the Bank this month, but this would also be a second SummerSlam in which Seth and Finn have done battle. Of course, SummerSlam 2016 saw Balor defeat Rollins to become the inaugural WWE Universal Champion; a title the Irishman would have to vacate the very next night due to a torn labrum.

Given how WWE programming has played out in recent weeks, many have speculated that we'd get a Rollins vs. Balor vs. Damian Priest triple-threat for Raw's top men's prize at SummerSlam. That is seemingly not going to be the case, although as Senor Money in the Bank, the Judgment Day's Punisher could still have a pivotal role to play at WWE's Biggest Party of the Summer.

This Observer reports also notes how part of the reason Finn Balor pinned NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes this past Tuesday - Balor and Priest beating Hayes and Trick Williams - was in order to make Balor look strong ahead of facing the Visionary at SummerSlam. As such, expect Finn to pick up further big wins in the coming weeks.

Emanating from Detroit's Ford Field, the card for SummerSlam is shaping up increasingly nicely as WWE looks to continue its momentum of delivering well-received Premium Live Events across this year.

As it stands, that card is expected to be:

- Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso

- World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor

- WWE Women's Champion Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair

- World Women's Champion Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez

- Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar

- Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus

- Shayna Baszler vs. Rhea Ripley

- Ricochet vs. Logan Paul

- Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER vs. Drew McIntyre

More matches could well be added to that line-up, with United States Champion Austin Theory and Undisputed Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn notable absences right now. Likewise, the ever-popular LA Knight is another who could find himself lacing up his boots for SummerSlam - with Knight vs. Theory certainly one option.
