The Undertaker's 23 WrestleMania Matches - From Worst To Best
12. Diesel (WrestleMania XII)
One of the marquee matches at WrestleMania XII was the clash between Undertaker and Diesel, which was born in the locker room of the historic Hershey Park Arena in Hershey, Pennsylvania the night of In Your House V in December 1995. Irritated and furious over the idea of Undertaker receiving a shot at the WWE Championship before him, Diesel was more than vocal about his displeasure. Just moments after losing the Royal Rumble match the following January, he interfered in the title match between The Deadman and Bret Hart, costing the former his shot at championship glory. Undertaker returned the favor a month later at In Your House, during a cage match between Diesel and Hart. It was against that backdrop that the industry giants took to the squared circle for their epic encounter in Anaheim. Diesel manhandled The Undertaker in ways that fans had never been witnessed before. He kept The Phenom grounded, beating him down and looking as badass as he had in well over a year. But he could not account for his opponent's resiliency, his refusal to quit or the supernatural elements that allowed Undertaker to be, well, Undertaker. Two straight Jackknife Powerbombs would have put anyone else away, but not the Deadman. As Diesel went to pin him after the second, he was stunned by a hand around his throat. Moments later, a grinning Undertaker hoisted Diesel into the air and delivered a Tombstone piledriver that spelled the end for Big Daddy Cool. The match was easily the best from either man in quite some time. Kevin Nash has gone on record and admitted that working with Undertaker was an honor and that he was extra motivated to deliver the best possible performance. You can certainly tell watching this forgotten classic, as Diesel is as crisp and "on" has he ever was during his WWE run. And Undertaker was his tried and true self, a pro's pro who gave everything he had en route to another 'Mania win.
