The WWE WrestleMania 34 Awards!

1. WrestleMania 34 MVP: Stephanie McMahon

Matt Hardy trophy
WWE

WrestleMania 34 really was the apogee of WWE's occasionally-misfiring women's revolution, but it was one of the company's most maligned women who made the show (as it happens, the one who takes most of the credit for it). Ronda Rousey's debut was phenomenal - and after so much practice, perhaps that was to be expected - but it takes two to tango, and it wouldn't have been half as effective without Steph's masterful performance in the opposite corner. WWE's Chief Brand Officer plays her character to perfection, making the annual comeuppance all the sweeter. Her presence might be overbearing at times, but is there a more effective heel in WWE today? The crowd reaction to her arm being wrenched from its socket says no.

Runner-up: Charlotte Flair

Even without Ronda Rousey, Charlotte and Asuka ensured a watershed night for women's wrestling in WWE. Charlotte in particular, is a superstar. It's no coincidence at all that she echoed Triple H's entrance from four years ago, no longer a bit-part player beneath a mask, but the main attraction herself.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
