TNA's 10 Craziest Matches

8. Sting vs. Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan and Sting had the biggest WCW match of all-time at Starrcade 1997. A well-known historical fact is that it sucked. Sting was out of shape, and Hogan was Hogan'ing his way through it. That didn’t stop TNA from giving us the re-match 14 years later.

Both men were in their 50s by the time the bell rang, and while Sting could still work pretty well for his age, Hogan was nowhere near being able to put on a respectable athletic contest. He looked nowhere near being able to mow his own lawn.

In 2010, Hogan had major back surgery, and that should have been the absolute end of his career. Everyone agreed, except for Hogan's bank account. After months of teasing another match on-and-off screen, he finally stepped in the ring again at Bound for Glory.

The action consisted of some punches delivered with a speed that was slightly above a fist fight at a nursing home, a few light headlocks, and a lot of posing. Hogan only took two actual bumps in the match. When you can’t fall down anymore without the risk of seriously injuring yourself, that should be the sign it’s time to retire.

Perhaps the best part of the entire spectacle was a shot of Dixie Carter yelling “come on!” as a fan dressed as Hulk Hogan hit her in the face with his feather boa. Not cool, brother!

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
