WWE boss Triple H has announcements on company's future PLE plans in New Orleans.

Word spread before the weekend that WWE had pulled WrestleMania 42 from planned host site New Orleans. Another city (believed to be Las Vegas, which hosted this year's 'Mania 41) had made a "significant" counter bid to host yet again, and apparently WWE/TKO bosses were willing to listen. That's bad news for the New Orleans market, and it sets a precedent for WWE to alter plans depending on who has the most cash.

On Friday night, Triple H released a video via his official X account that explained what the company's future plans for New Orleans are. It turns out that the market will be getting WrestleMania "at a later date", but that wasn't all 'The Game' had to say: Trips also revealed that Money In The Bank 2026 will be coming to New Orleans on 29 August next year.

That's later on the calendar than MITB typically sits. For example, 2025's version is due to take place in Inglewood, California on 7 June. Interesting. Further, WWE is planning so far in advance with this PLE, which leads many to believe it's a makeweight/light apology for what's going on with WrestleMania 42.

WWE had already announced that show ahead of time for the New Orleans market.

WWE's Announcement Annoyed A Lot Of People

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson appeared live on the 21 February 2025 episode of SmackDown to play mind games with then-WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and announce that WrestleMania 42 would be happening in New Orleans. The promotion even flashed graphics up on-screen during Rock's speech, and there was a ton of hype put behind 'Mania being back in that area for the first time since 2018 afterwards.

Plans changed, and that ruffled a lot of feathers.

There's even chatter behind the scenes in WWE at The Rock's expense. PWInsider reported that "a few people in the company were joking that, once again, something connected to Rock went awry". This won't sit well with the 'Final Boss', who appears to have ticked a fair number of folks off since helping John Cena turn heel back at Elimination Chamber: Toronto in March.

Now, Triple H is appearing via X and announcing that New Orleans will get 'Mania at some unspecified time in the future. The whole thing is messy, and there are those who believe this sort of thing simply wouldn't have happened under disgraced former WWE figurehead Vince McMahon.

WWE certainly hasn't made a habit of announcing a host city then changing their minds in the past - not with any regularity, and not with a show as huge as WrestleMania.
