Update On WWE Countering AEW TV With NXT On FS1

Could NXT collide with AEW on Wednesday nights?

Rumours of WWE moving their acclaimed NXT developmental brand off the Network and onto Fox Sports 1 on Wednesday nights have been swirling for a while, and it sounds like they're close to being set in stone.

This is according to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He writes that current plans have the show airing between 8pm and 10pm every Wednesday evening as a means of countering AEW's upcoming weekly show, which starts on TNT on 2 October.

There's currently no word on when, exactly, WWE will announce the move, or if the show will continue taping at Full Sail University or evolve into a full-on touring brand. Switching to a two-hour live broadcast from the current 60-minute taped format represents a major change in itself, though.

It's worth noting that WWE have been planning on bringing NXT to FS1 for a while, though they didn't decide on a timeslot until AEW played their hand.

Could a new Wednesday Night Wars soon be on the cards? It seems that way, and it's interesting, as while TNT is available in more US homes than FS1, WWE are obviously the bigger brand.
