What If WWE WrestleMania Was Always 2 Nights?

8. WrestleMania 28

End of an Era WrestleMania XXVII The Undertaker Triple H Shawn Michaels
WWE

In a similar position to WrestleMania 27, the 28th Showcase of the Immortals featured The Rock and John Cena in the main event, with the secondary option being a debate between a title match and The Undertaker's streak.

This time around, the penultimate match prior to The Rock vs. John Cena was CM Punk defending the WWE Championship against Chris Jericho. That year's Royal Rumble winner, Sheamus, was wasted on an eighteen second opening match with Daniel Bryan for the World Heavyweight Championship, so that's out of the running.

But while it would be nice to say Punk would have gotten his justified main event here, The Undertaker and Triple H in a Hell in a Cell match with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee in what would be known as "The End of an Era" as a tagline is too massive to pass up.

That is especially true if WWE had gone with Edge and Del Rio the year prior, and for that to have been a disappointment. WWE would have made it a point to book Triple H and The Undertaker at next year's WrestleMania to make up for it, and Punk and Jericho would have maybe opened Sunday night.
