What REALLY Happened To WWE's 16 Tallest Wrestlers Ever?

6. Shanky (7')

Known For: Shanky was another one of those 'intimidating giants' who turned into 'comedy relief'. In 2022, WWE had him dance before and after his matches in a bid to show personality and endear him to the audience. It didn't work. Of course it didn't bloody work. They'd already tried this comedy giant thing with Kurrgan, Giant Silva, The Great Khali, Albert/Lord Tensai and countless others.

Dancing whilst being chastised by a more serious Jinder Mahal failed to get the Shankster over, shockingly.

What Happened To Him: Triple H's ascent to the top of WWE's creative tree spelled disaster for Shanky. He vanished from screens, and he didn't return until challenging Gunther for the Intercontinental Title at Superstar Spectacle (still in the running for one of the worst event names ever, by the way) in October 2023. That event was taped in September.

WWE tried to pretend that the legitimate 7-footer was over with fans in India, but even his fellow countrymen couldn't have given less of a toss about what Shanky was up to, and Gunther dispatched him in approx 5 minutes anyway. Then, mere weeks after filming the bout with Gunther (and before it actually aired), Shanks was released by the company on 21 September.

He's wrestled exactly 2 matches since. Once on an independent card in Australia, and another for an Indian promotion. The latest was in February 2025; Shanky is still only 33 years old, so he might show back up somewhere. He'd need to show vast improvements in ring, to be fair.

Also, no more dancing.
