3. Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho vs. Steve Austin & Triple H (Raw May 21 2001)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBKW8gyAxFc This match is probably the best one in the history of Raw. That's an arguable point obviously, but it's always the one that I'll remember as the best. It's a case of four elite in-ring performers going at it in a well built match for the tag titles held by Austin and Triple H. It was the perfect dynamic because Austin and Hunter were established top guys while Benoit and Jericho were on their way up. It was set up simply because two hungry babyfaces wanted to beat the established heels. The best part? The fans were ready for it too. They followed the tag team match formula perfectly as the heels focused on Benoit and cheated at every opportunity. There was even a chair shot within the body of the match that the ref didn't see although he could have heard it probably. Watching the match again, it was also amazing to hear the crowd reaction because they were loud for the whole thing. The match is famous not just for being 15 minutes of incredibly intense wrestling action, but also the toughness that Triple H showed in continuing on even after he tore his quad muscle. He tore it while breaking up a Walls of Jericho attempt on Austin. Then they went outside the ring and Jericho gave Hunter the Walls of Jericho on the announce table. It was a major injury for Hunter, but he fought through it. When it was time for the finish, Hunter accidentally hit Austin with his sledgehammer while he was going after Jericho and the ref was busy outside the ring. Heel miscommunication will get ya every time. The ref went back into the ring to count the pin and that was it. New tag champs. Amazing match. "Benoit and Jericho in the biggest match of their lives have beat Austin and Triple H for the tag team titles!" - Jim Ross, as usual, with the memorable call.
