7. Joey Styles Quits The WWE
Joey Styles has one of the smartest minds for a promo in the wrestling business, combined with a great voice for passionate promos. With ECW getting rebooted in 2006, Raw commentator Styles was needed over on the hardcore-branded tv show. This led to one of the great worked shoots of the last decade, with Styles being wrote off of Raw with a quit rant that got over the anti-mainstream nature of ECW. Styles got stuck into WWE with comments that challenged the nature of the company. Shooting on Raw's "lack of wrestling", Styles blasted Vince McMahon and his brand of sports entertainment. The promo worked brilliantly after being bumped off of commentating duties for some big PPV events, fans really bought into Styles' displeasure. Joey pretty much told it how it was "this company came to me six months ago because they had yet again fired Jim Ross [...] from week one I got lectures in the differences between pro wrestling and sports entertainment [...] and then I get pulled from Wrestlemania because I don't sound like Jim Ross who is the guy they fired in the first place right! I am sick of sports entertainment and I am sick of you fans who buy into this crap!"
