3. Edge And Lita Have "Sex" Live On Raw

When Edge won the title from John Cena in January in 2006, he said that we would celebrate this achievement by having sex with Lita in the ring, live in front of an audience and live on TV. This tacky scene was played out for our 'enjoyment'. A bed had been constructed in the ring and the pair took to it, displaying some raunchy moves before getting down to business under the covers - simulating sex. This was the highest TV ratings the WWE ever got - people tuning in to watch a prurient bit of smut. Thankfully Flair managed to break them up. Apparently Lita and Edge had reservations about enacting this above sequence, however it did not stop them from participating in it. There were complicated dynamics behind the whole arc. Edge had recently reconciled with his wife. A contentious issue between them was Edge's real life affair with Lita. And now here he was, supposedly shagging Lita on the TV for the world to see. Lita was pressurised into playing a 'slut' role which she hated, and which ultimately contributed to her retirement. Due to the torrid nature of their on screen relationship and the whole sex celebration affair, Edge and Lita set new standards of degeneracy in the WWE. What is certain is that we will never see the likes of that incident again.
