WWE: 10 Reasons Randy Orton Was The Right Choice To Unify Titles

2. A Face Chasing A Heel Is Better For Mania

Wrestlemania 30 From a business and creative perspective, it makes far more sense to have a heel reigning on top during the Wrestlemania season. It gives the babyface something to aspire towards. The ultimate creative in any type of storytelling is to have a hero sent on a quest in which they must overcome obstacles in the pursuit of treasure. It is no different in the WWE, and they do this story to perfection during Mania season. Orton is the antagonist with the treasure, the hero goes on the quest to win the Rumble, they overcome obstacles along the way ... ultimately leading to the slaying of the beast and retrieval of the treasure at Wrestlemania. It is classic creative that has worked brilliantly in the WWE with guys such as Stone Cold in 1998. Orton will play the role of antagonist to perfection over the coming months. He had to win at TLC, he will be the key pivot point of WWE's most important story telling devices in the coming year.
