WWE: 10 Rivalries That Were Too Personal To Be Fake

4. Randy Savage And Hulk Hogan

You can make the case that WWE's two biggest stars during the first ten WrestleMania events were Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage. They were friends, they were foes and then they both went to WCW in the mid 1990s to compete against WWE too. Both were mocked by Vince McMahon as "The Huckster" and "Nacho Man" in some poorly acted WWE sketches too. Their names are synonymous with one another. That's why it's so puzzling why they didn't get along better in their careers. Maybe Savage was jealous of Hogan for being a bigger star. We don't know all the reasons for it and since Savage passed away a few years ago we never will know everything. Some of the stories involving them over the years relate to Savage's late ex-wife Miss Elizabeth living with Hogan and his family for a period of time when Savage was going through marital issues. That definitely put a strain on their relationship. Whatever problems they had didn't seem to translate into the ring because they did business together a lot in both WWE and WCW many times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SG50i1k_0Qc Savage said that they were never best friends or even friends. He spoke about Hogan disrespecting his family. He called Hogan a "coward" and wanted to have a real fight with Hogan with all the money going to charity. Hogan never answered it, of course. There was also a point when Savage released a rap CD that had a song called "Be A Man" where he called out Hogan for running from him for years. Others like the Ultimate Warrior also chimed in with thoughts on the Hogan/Savage relationship. He released videos criticizing Hogan and also said this about it in 2012: "Hogan's first response after Randy died was that he was sad because he and Randy had just recently reconnected after ten years. I found out from very, very, very close reliable sources that that wasn't true and I just thought that I wanted to say something. I talked about what I remembered of Randy and what a great guy he was. He's another guy that was sort of an outcast and nobody really knows the true reason, I guess. But, he was a stand up guy." As Warrior mentioned, after Savage's death Hogan said that he repaired his relationship with Savage. Hogan also apparently got close with Ultimate Warrior before his death earlier in April. Whether Hogan was on good terms with Savage before his death or not, their rivalry is one of the most famous in the history of wrestling.
