WWE: 10 Superstars That Retired Before They Were 40

9. Tazz

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blO5nQ012w8 When Tazz signed with WWE in early 2000, he was just 32 years old. He had already put over 10 years in the business by that point and was booked very strong as the ECW Champion by the great Paul Heyman. It was the right time for him to leave ECW and head to WWE. One of the changes they made was they altered his name from Taz to Tazz because WWE likes to trademark things like that. His debut match in WWE was very memorable because it happened at a great show - the 2000 Royal Rumble. It also happened against Kurt Angle, who was undefeated for a couple of months and it ended up as a very quick win for Tazz. After the debut, things didn't go great for him. There was a famous match with Triple H, but there wasn't much else for him to do. The fact that he's only 5'9" probably hurt him in the eyes of WWE management, who have always favored taller wrestlers. Tazz got into a feud with announcer Jerry Lawler and then he started to do commentary in 2002. Once Raw and Smackdown split into separate brands in 2002, Tazz became the regular commentator on Smackdown and his in-ring career was over at the age of 35. These days, Tazz has a wrestling school and also works for TNA Impact Wrestling doing commentary for them.
