WWE: 10 Superstars Who Wrestled As Jobbers Before Later Fame

7. Justin Credible

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCPUr8Ci_Q8 As a former ECW world champion and a two-time ECW tag team champion with Lance Storm, Justin Credible's success can be seen as almost remarkable considering how terrible his career began. Credible (real name: Peter Polaco) actually trained in the Hart Dungeon alongside future tag partner Lance Storm and started working on the independent scene shortly thereafter. Polaco then was signed by the WWF and worked as semi-famous jobber PJ Walker for a number of years. Aside from defeating Irwin R. Schyster in a fluke win as part of IRS's feud with Razor Ramon, Walker's early WWF career consisted of him losing every single match he participated in. The WWF rewarded his sacrifice by giving him one of the worst gimmicks of all-time: The Portuguese Man O'War, Aldo Montoya. Aside from sounding like an castoff from the Princess Bride, Montoya's mask very closely resembled a jock strap, something that fans quickly noticed. Fortunately for Polaco, he befriended the Kliq, a very influential backstage group consisting of Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels. While they could not move Polaco out of the gimmick hell he was living in, they did help him secure his release so he could go to ECW and restart his career. Using his jobbing past as inspiration, Polaco was renamed Justin Credible and was pushed as an upper card heel that Paul Heyman saw as the future of his promotion. Whether or not you agreed with Heyman, Credible's rise from opening match punchline to ECW champion was either a testament to his skill or his ability to befriend the right people backstage.
