8. Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair - WrestleMania 8

The Savage/Flair match was for the WWE Title and it took place in the midcard because WWE wanted to end WrestleMania 8 with the Ultimate Warrior's return as he saved Hulk Hogan from the forces of evil. The big reason why this match had a lot of hype was because it was Flair's first WrestleMania match. He was already known as the best wrestler alive due to his work for over a decade in the NWA/WCW promotions, so there was enormous pressure on him to deliver. Remember his speech at the Royal Rumble when he said it was the greatest day of his life? He loved being in WWE. He likely knew there were high expectations of him. It was another example of WWE doing an excellent job of keeping them apart as Flair took personal shots at Savage by trying to put over the idea that he was romantically involved with Savage's wife Elizabeth in the past. It was such an evil thing to do, so when they had the match the fans were really ready for it. Like a lot of these major stories at WrestleMania, the good guy won with Savage getting the WWE Title from Flair and they managed to live up to the hype for it too.
