WWE: 11 Loudest Crowd Reactions In WCW History

1. Goldberg Beats Hogan For WCW World Title (July 6, 1998)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTJsD1NIpxg When Bill Goldberg beat Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Title on Nitro in July of 1998, it was one of the loudest crowd reactions you will ever hear. It was helped by the fact that the event was held in Atlanta's Georgia Dome with over 30,000 fans in the building. A lot of factors came into play to make it work. It was the hottest babyface wrestler in the company (Goldberg) going up against a dominant heel champion (Hogan) in a city where Goldberg had adopted as a home (Atlanta) after he played there in the NFL. That's what you might call the perfect scenario for a moment like this because there were so many things in play at once that made it work. The crowd was loud the entire match. It's not like it was easy for them to have a great match because Goldberg was so limited and Hogan wasn't really known for his entertaining matches. They did manage to tell a great story with Goldberg on the defensive for much of it until he finally went on the attack. Towards the end of the match, Hogan slammed him down and hit his patented leg drop. Not just once, but twice. Goldberg kicked out. Karl Malone of the NBA dropped Curt Hennig with a Diamond Cutter at ringside. Then Goldberg hit Hogan with the Spear. He followed up with the Jackhammer and the Atlanta crowd went wild for the new WCW World Champion. Goldberg's victory was the most famous win of his career and streak that was taking over WCW at that point. Was it smart for WCW to do the title change on Nitro instead of on PPV where they likely could have made a lot of money off the change? No it was not smart. Smart or not, it was one of the most famous matches in WCW history and the match where the crowd reaction was the loudest.
