Given that his opponent was John Cena, no one figured that Sheamus would come out on the winning end. Besides, Cena has the tendency to overcome the odds and slay all monster heels (see: The Great Khali, Umaga, etc.). Sheamus decimated everyone from Cena to Santino Marella to even Mark Cuban on the road to TLC, yet fans still didn't see him as a threat to Cena's title reign. That all changed at TLC when Sheamus gave Cena the fight of his life, proving his worth against the face of the company.
