WWE 2000 PPVs From Worst To Best

14. King of the Ring

The Good: Eddie Guerrero (who was developing into quite the entertaining midcard act) and Val Venis had a really decent King of the Ring tournament match. It was the best thing on the card from an in-ring standpoint. Eventual tournament winner Kurt Angle was the right choice to go over, though. It was obvious to everyone that the Olympic champions was a star-in-the-making. The Bad: Discussion of King of the Ring 2000 usually lead us to the notoriously naff Hardcore Evening Gown match between Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson. This anything but hilarious attempt at comedy lasted under three minutes but felt like it went three hours. A terrible rib (on the performers and the fans). A lot of the King of the Ring matches were just filler. What tournament featuring Bull Buchanan and Crash Holly could be taken seriously, anyway? The chaotic main event, pitting The Rock/The Undertaker/Kane versus Vince/Shane/Triple H in a first-person-to-score-the-pin-becomes-the-champion match wasn't very good, thanks to the restrictive (read: stupid) stipulation. The Rest: The dumpster/table match between DX (Road Dogg, X-Pac & Tori) versus The Dudley Boys was alright, for what it was. Ditto the four-way elimination Tag Team Title match between The Hardys/Edge and Christian/Too Cool/T&A. Alright but inconsequential.
