4. WrestleMania 22 - Edge Defeats Mick Foley

The purpose of the match was to put over the idea that the Rated R Superstar Edge, a persona he had been doing for less than a year at that point, could hang with the Hardcore Legend Mick Foley on the grandest stage of them all at WrestleMania. Most people assumed Edge was going to win, but we didn't really know how good or memorable it would be. They had one of the most physical matches in WrestleMania history. The ending of the match is what people remember most. Foley was on the apron. A table was set up at ringside. Edge's girlfriend Lita decided to light the table on fire. What a woman huh? Edge ran the ropes, hit a Spear on Foley and they both went through the table. If Edge just hit the spear and Foley went crashing that would have been impressive. Since Edge went through the table with him it was an even greater move. It was just another example of Mick Foley putting over a superstar on the rise, which was something he did very often. Edge became an established top guy for the rest of his career. He was already WWE Champion for a short time before this, but it's this match that really propelled him to the next level.
