While Brock Lesnar versus The Undertaker a match first teased at a UFC show in 2010 is surely a matchup worthy of the thirtieth installment of WrestleMania, it wasnt the original plan. Prior to WrestleMania XXIX, the working plan for XXX was for the former NCAA, UFC, and WWE Champion to take on Dwayne The Rock Johnson in a rematch of their SummerSlam 2002 encounter (which saw Lesnar victorious). Though both men are part-timers these days, theyre also two of most entertaining characters in all of wrestling a classic feud was sure to ensue. Unfortunately, The Rock was badly hurt in his WrestleMania XXIX match with John Cena, tearing an abductor, adductor, and abdominal muscle and needing painful surgery surgery which delayed shooting on his upcoming film Hercules: The Thracian Wars. With commitments to film studios already made and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of projects on his back, The Rock could not afford a similar problem in 2014. However, there is hope Johnson recently tweeted that yes, Brock-Rock was originally the plan for WrestleMania XXX, and yes, it was off but that it was still a possibility for WrestleMania XXXI.
