WWE: 9 Awesome Tag Teams That Never Won The Belts

7. Powers Of Pain

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zlcJi1taxA Since wrestling is a business that copies itself again and again, there seemed to be a rule in the 1980s that every single territory had to have a muscle-bound tag team who painted their faces. The NWA had the originators of the gimmick in the Road Warriors and the WWF responded by creating Demolition. In 1987, Jim Crockett Promotions put two massive individuals in a tag team and dubbed them the Barbarian and the Warlord, together they were the Powers of Pain. After a feud with the Road Warriors in the NWA, the Powers jumped to the World Wrestling Federation and, surprisingly, debuted as babyfaces with Tito Santana as their manager. You see, Santana's partner Rick Martel had been injured by Demolition so Santana had brought in the Powers as mercenaries to gain revenge on the heel tag team. After weird period where they were managed by Baron Von Raschke, the Powers of Pain finally turned heel by attacking Demolition and taking on Mr. Fuji as their manager. They challenged Demolition for the titles a number of times but could never gain the belts. Barbarian and the Warlord would go on to become mid-card mainstays for a number of years but their run as a tag team could have been so much more memorable if it had included a tag team title run.
