WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (March 13)
3. Kurt's Momentary Farewell
Kurts taking Lashley down to Suplex boulevard. -The Pope on Impact
Hey Pope, isnt a boulevard a LOT smaller than a city? If youre going to rip-off the catchphrase of another promotion, at least make it seem bigger! Might as well have called it Suplex cul de sac. Suplex Shed Behind My Neighbor's House? Okay, so Kurt Angle wrestled his last match in TNA. They told us hes retiring The final match in the historic career of Kurt Angle. Yeah, except for that its not over at all. Hes wrestling next week against Rey Mysterio on a pay-per-view! Hes just done with TNA...for now. While there were plenty of videos, and speeches by fellow wrestlers, Kurt was left beaten by Bobby Lashley, leaving a potential rematch with him, and a showdown with Mike Bennett open. So the sad thing is, this isnt a wrestler going out on top on his own terms in an emotional moment. It feels more like he wasnt getting what he wanted in TNA, and left to go elsewhere, perhaps this time WWE will take him back. Perhaps (likely) not. Since hes been positioned on-air as TNA's biggest talent ever, it is a pretty big loss from a visibility standpoint. The company has been pretty solid these past few months, but overall they failed Kurt over the past 10 years. While the retirement party felt a bit dishonest, you cant blame him for trying to keep the dream alive elsewhere. It's still real to him. Damn real.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
