WWE Brighton Live - 10 Interesting Observations

2. The Ring Apron Is Higher Than You Think

Our next match was another multiple-participant contest (surely they could cut their expenses a bit by having more singles matches? Only the first and last matches were singles contests). The Lucha Dragons were out first and nearly blew the roof off the place! I was stunned at how popular they were, with tons of people in the crowd waving their arms and shouting €œLucha! Lucha!€ Next out were Los Matadores, who are now apparently heels but got very little response either way from a crowd who seemed to have forgotten that they€™re still under contract to the WWE. To complete this elimination match, The Ascension came out to little response as well. Having seen The Ascension in NXT, their fall from grace is shocking. Their NXT entrance, with the music and lights, created an atmosphere of pure intimidation. Here, they looked anything but intimidating, despite their best efforts. Towards the end of the match, the distinctive opening riff of €˜Bad to the Bone€™ played and out came El Torito, to a nice pop. He ran down the ramp, jumped up onto the apron€..and promptly fell off the apron backwards onto the floor. He soon recovered but had completely killed the impact of his arrival. He attacked Los Matadores with flying head scissors, leading to Kalisto pinning one of them (they look identical with their masks on!). This was followed seconds later by Sin Cara pinning Viktor with a swanton off the top to win the match. The Lucha Dragons were popular winners here.
