It's been a predictably rocky road for The Miz since the 'Superstar Shake-up' took him and wife Maryse to Monday Night Raw. A solid and proven talent, he's managed to maintain the immense momentum he'd built up prior to the John Cena squash he was broad-shouldered enough to absorb at WrestleMania 33.

Part of that has been due to his immediate pairing with Dean Ambrose. Continuing a feud they never really concluded over on SmackDown Live! earlier this year, the two have both regained a spark lost immediately following the 'Show of Shows'.

Ambrose has gamely carried the secondary strap since January 3rd this year, which is a minor miracle considering the almost monthly switches the blue brand's top title has endured since AJ Styles dropped the gold at the Royal Rumble. However, in their current spots on Raw, Miz needs it more.

Forced into the bloated card and kept away from the current pack of main eventers, the 'A-Lister' feels like just another guy, and his favourite title slung over his shoulder will add huge gravitas to his obnoxious rhetoric.

Ambrose's quiet success with the title may see him sneak back into Universal Title contention, with former Shield comrades Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns certain to remain in the conversation regardless of the main event result.
