WWE Greatest Royal Rumble Wrestlers - Where Are They Now?
33. Goldust

Then: Most watching 2018's Greatest Royal Rumble perhaps thought they were seeing the final days of Goldust as an active pro wrestler. After all, he was about to go under the knife for surgery on his knees that summer, and there were zero guarantees that he'd be able to work properly afterwards. That tinged his 10-minute slot in the match with a certain amount of sadness.
Was this the end of Goldust after so many ups, downs and runs in WWE? In a sense, yes, but it wouldn't be the end of one Dustin Rhodes. More on that shortly.
Goldust was another thrown out of the GRR by Bobby Roode. He got to run through some familiar spots during his berth in the match, but fans didn't expect anything special out of Rhodes at the time. Little did they know what was coming soon, eh? He was about to shock everybody by entering a career-best performance against his own flesh and blood.
Now: Dustin requested his own release from contract and left WWE in early-2019. Then, as if by magic, he was slotted in for a match against his brother Cody at AEW's first Double Or Nothing pay-per-view on 25 May. They put on a thoroughly gripping sibling vs. sibling rollercoaster. There was blood, there were tears, and there were cheers for both.
What a match.
Rhodes still plies his trade for AEW, and he's batted away suggestions from fans that he return to WWE. Tony Khan has rewarded that loyalty with a TNT Title run. Dustin will almost certainly get inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in the future, but he's happy where he is.
