Then: "Who wants to walk with Elias?" should be changed to: 'Who wants to be thrown out of the Greatest Royal Rumble by Elias?' for the purpose of this entry. The music man hurled a respectable 5 workers over the top in Saudi - he eliminated Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Kurt Angle, Konnor of The Ascension and even Randy Orton during a 34-minute stay in the match.

RK-no, came the cry.

This was indicative of where Eli was at in Vince McMahon's thinking. The then boss viewed Elias as a legitimate contender to motor up the pecking order and become a main event player. That changed as quickly as it had started, such were the whims of Vince. By 2023, and following a few tweaks to his gimmick (he shaved and played his own brother!), Eli was toast.

Now: The independent scene was waiting for the rebranded Elijah once WWE dreams went up in smoke. Rumours then persisted that he'd be showing up in ROH (technically making him part of the AEW roster by default) in early 2025, but that didn't end up happening for him.

A TNA run has provided plenty of giggles, and it even brought Elias back into the WWE mix via NXT in May 2025. Who knows what could happen now? He's not going to be the focal point on Raw or SmackDown he once threatened to be, but Triple H might show interest in another whirl on the midcard.

If nothing else, he'd be ideal for chewing up some airtime on lacklustre episodes of TV. Just a thought.
