WWE Greatest Royal Rumble Wrestlers - Where Are They Now?

29. Rhyno

Rhyno gets fired

Then: It may seem crazy to think about now, but Rhyno was one of the most over acts on WWE TV during various periods between 2016-2018. His tandem with Heath Slater (he got kids!) involved squeezy cheese, crackers and Heath's nonstop wish to put food on his expanding family's table. It was all rather endearing, and it turned the duo into an odd couple tag gimmick to be proud of.

Fans were happy to see Rhyno and his tree trunk legs come out for the Greatest Royal Rumble too. Backstage, WWE knew they didn't have many creative plans for the ex-ECW Champion, but they also knew he was reliable enough to work a solid chunk of the match without fuss. That's why Rhyno got just over 16 minutes in the bout.

No eliminations or spears through tables though, the bloody spoilsports.

Now: Rhyno went straight from WWE to the independent scene then TNA following his release in 2019. He'd actually shown up in TNA whilst still under contract to WWE, but it didn't cause any major issues for him. In 2024, Rhyno left the former Impact Wrestling and tried his luck in the NWA. He's also shown up on AEW TV as a challenger for then-ROH Television Champ Nick Wayne's gold on the 7 May 2025 edition of Dynamite.

It'll probably never be difficult for this trusty veteran to get some bookings. He's mega-reliable, never seems to bitch about anything he's asked to do, can always put on decent-good matches, and he's popular amongst his peers. Man's also passionate about boats. Just ask anybody who's met him out on the road. Or the sea!
