Then: Drew Gulak's sub-2 minute run in the GRR encapsulated internal feeling about his worth. Perhaps that's unfair, because Drew was viewed as somebody with superior technical skills and knowhow during his 8 year stay in WWE. That was never going to be enough to rocket him to the top though, so he had to be content with everything from 205 Live's anti-Cruiserweight gimmick to a whopping 8 runs with the joke 24/7 Title.

The highlight of his run came after the Greatest Royal Rumble in 2020. WWE put him in a mini-feud with Daniel Bryan. It delivered some good matches, but it wasn't a priority. Back in 2018, Gulak was just another dude the company could fly out to Saudi for this souped up 50-man match.

He was eliminated less than 2 minutes later by Tucker. "Tuuuuuuckyyyyyyy!".

Now: The end of Drew's run in WWE was marred by various allegations from ex-peer Ronda Rousey and suggestions that he'd been a backstage bully. Rousey's claim stated that Gulak had grabbed the drawstring on her gear without permission back in 2022, but he later said it was an accident and palmed the reports off.

WWE took Drew off TV throughout all of this, then his contract expired in 2024. Since then, he's worked on the independent circuit and even turned the Ronda claim into a storyline alongside TNA's Masha Slamovich. That was probably ill-advised, but it does go to show how seriously Gulak was taking Rousey's words in the media.

There's likely to room on the current WWE roster for a 'No Fly Zone' anti-Cruiser comeback.
