Entry: #4

Then: This entry is starting now. From this moment on. Starting now. This entry is starting the...sorry, you've likely fallen asleep. Poor Curtis Axel may never live down his woeful attempt at a promo when moonlighting as Michael McGillicutty (what a name) on NXT back in the day. It's a wonder that dire speech didn't destroy any hopes he had of building a career for himself in WWE.

As Axel, he'd done a lot since stinking up the place with his "genesis of McGillicutty" nonsense. Curtis had become a 'Paul Heyman Guy', won the Intercontinental Title, formed an oddly likeable tag-team with Ryback and become one of The Miz's hangers-on alongside Bo Dallas. Together, they'd just turned on their fearless leader before hopping a flight over to Jeddah for the GRR supershow.

It'd prove to be a wasted trip for Mr. Perfect's son. He lasted just 2 short minutes in the 50-man match before being punted out by Mark Henry. Rumours that Henry then immediately shouted: 'That's what I do - it's sexual, baby' are unsubstantiated and should be taken with a grain (/mountain) of salt.

Now: Axel was released by the organisation due to budget cuts mid-COVID pandemic in April 2020. It was a scary, uncertain time for many, and now Curtis had found himself on the outside looking in. He did, however, return to WWE as a producer in 2022, but that role was rather shortlived too.

Joe Hennig has been wrestling on the independent circuit in 2025. There's next to no sign of another WWE reprieve. Hey, maybe his old 'B Team' pal Bo could toss him a bone in The Wyatt Sicks.
