WWE King Of The Ring 2019: 7 Ways WWE Can Make It Work
2. Book A Final And Winner Fans Want
Of the 16 names announced for the 2019 KOTR, only a handful seem like realistic winners. One could argue that's the same for any pro wrestling tournament, so this isn't really a problem. Issues will only arise if WWE try to randomly use King Of The Ring as a launching pad for someone fans don't respect (or want to see pushed).
Baron Corbin vs. The Miz, for example, sounds like a total waste of time as a final. It's vital that WWE get the final two right and then give people a pleasing winner they can get behind as a babyface or revile as a hated, credible heel. This is no time to play around with swerves or anything of the sort. It's the time to re-establish KOTR as a valuable tool that helps facilitate audience interest.
Ricochet vs. Drew McIntyre would be a great match, and so would something like Kevin Owens vs. Andrade. This could realistically be WWE's last shot at making King Of The Ring mean something. They want this one to be remembered for the right reasons, not as a laughing stock.
