WWE: Ranking John Cena's 14 World Title Reigns - From Worst To Best
13. WWE Championship (10th WWE, 12th Overall) September 18, 2011 - October 2, 2011
John Cena's record 10th WWE Championship was claimed from Alberto Del Rio at Night of Champions during a time that the championship was being tightly contested amongst Cena, Del Rio, CM Punk and Rey Mysterio following the repercussions of CM Punk's historic victory at Money In The Bank 2011. Cena lost the championship in a rare Triple Threat Hell In A Cell Match to Alberto Del Rio that also included CM Punk after The Miz and R-Truth, who had recently been fired emerged from under the ring and attacked Cena and Punk. The match was held during a time that the entire locker room felt that WWE COO Triple H was on a power trip and was beginning to lose control of his company. That point was driven further home at the conclusion of this match when an enraged Hunter would beat both The Miz and Truth while handcuffed. Cena wouldn't hold a championship for more than a year after this match, his longest drought since his first championship victory.
