WWE Raw Sets A Record-Low Rating Of 2.15

Sunday's TLC pay per view can't save WWE from yet another record low.

This week's WWE Raw set yet another record-low TV rating, drawing a worrying 2.15. The show's viewership of 3.054 million was down from last week's 3.17 million, and broke the previous low of 2.16 set on November 23rd. Monday's episode was widely-panned by critics and fans alike, with Wade Keller tweeting his theory that 'Vince McMahon and co. are going to go forward out of stubborn pride to prove they are right until there are no viewers left'. Raw's ratings have been in sharp decline since early September, and although many blame the beginning of the NFL season, a telling pair of tweets from Dave Meltzer demonstrated the dubious impact external factors can actually have. He posted: 'In Oct. 1998, with 75M homes with cable, 10+ million watched wrestling head up with both football and an NL playoff game. Last night, with 96 million homes with cable, 3 million people watched wrestling, with NFL competition and no baseball playoffs.' Discontent was also rife among fans during the show, with many taking to social media to vehemently voice their displeasure over the booking of the show. A particularly panned segment was Roman Reigns' in-ring promo, in which he repeatedly branded Sheamus a 'tater tot'. Many speculated that Reigns himself looked affected by the negative reaction he received from the North Charleston crowd.
