WWE Royal Rumble: 10 Most Criminally Overlooked Matches

2. Big Show Vs. Alberto Del Rio - Last Man Standing Match, 2013

The thought of a singles match between Alberto Del Rio and Big Show in 2016 will no doubt make a significant portion of the WWE Universe retch with with fear. Big Show has been bombarded with chants of 'Please retire!' while Del Rio is many fans' cure for insomnia. In short, they're both low on the list of many lists of 'WWE superstars we enjoy seeing perform'. Three short years ago, however, the two produced a sterling Last Man Standing match over the World Heavyweight Championship. The newly babyface ADR had only won the WHC form Show in a Last Man Standing match on Smackdown a couple of weeks earlier. Invoking his rematch clause, Show decided to make the return bout Last Man Standing as well, because if at first you don't succeed, you might as well fail again. Before the match, Bret Hart endorsed ADR which seemed to give the Mexican added enthusiasm and energy - he really went after Show, battering him with some stiff shots. Show was happy to provide a receipt, naturally, and the two went at it hammer and tong, trying to get the other one to stay down for ten. Show came mighty close with a brutal chokeslam off the stage and through a table, Del Rio just barely making it to his feet in time. After surviving that nasty bump (it looked like a neck-breaker), Del Rio rallied back and unloaded with chair shots. Once Show was down and trapped in an armbar, Ricardo Rodriguez earned his keep by hogtying his massive feet together with duck tape, meaning he was unable to answer the count. A novel finish to a really surprisingly great match. Despite going through hell, Del Rio still didn't feel like a top-level babyface, mind.
