With Christmas out of the way, it is time for the most wonderful time of the year. The Road to WrestleMania is here! That road starts with the Royal Rumble, specifically the two 30-person battle royals that will set up a pair of World Championship challengers for the Showcase of the Immortals.

The Rumble can make careers and create fans, giving a new generation of viewers a host of memories to cherish.

Of course, WWE is creatively bankrupt, so long-time viewers can expect the usual WWE battle royal tropes to be hit in 2021. That lack of creativity combine with an unhinged obsession with 'moments' has ruined the annual Royal Rumble match, although a little faith was restored with Brock Lesnar's one-man show in 2020. Don't expect someone to dominate the first half of either match this year though, there are too many notes to hit.

Even a bad Royal Rumble is good fun. There is more than enough talent involved in the two matches for a thoroughly entertaining evening to be had, complete with memorable spots that shine lights on new names and set up matches for the Show of Shows. It might be predictable, but it should still be awesome. Here's what to expect in the 2021 Royal Rumble matches.

10. Kacy Catanzaro Does Something Cool, Gets Eliminated Immediately After

The first time Kofi Kingston escaped elimination in incredible fashion, it was tremendous entertainment. The second time he did it, fans were every bit as amazed as the first time, but by the time the third athletic escape came around, it was old hat. WWE went to the well too many times, and what was a novel piece of entertainment became an expectation, the worst thing that can happen to supposedly spontaneous genius. It should never be assumed, but it now is.

Naomi initially took on the Kofi Kingston mantel in the women's Royal Rumble, but that crown may well be in the hands of Kacy Catanzaro as we head towards the 2021 event. Still mired in NXT limbo, Catanzaro is never far away from incredible feats of athleticism, and she has previous when it comes to the Rumble. She defied elimination in incredible fashion way back in 2019, although her career hasn't really moved forward as some expected it would. 2021 is the year to change all that.

All true, but she isn't going to change anything at the Rumble. Catanzaro will enter, defy gravity in staving off elimination, before being immediately thrown out by whoever put her in that peril in the first place.
