WWE Star Reveals They Suffered Torn Calf Before WrestleMania 39
This wrestler went through hell before they got in the WrestleMania 39 cell.
Finn Balor suffered a torn calf a few weeks before WrestleMania 39.
As the former Universal Champion revealed on his Instagram yesterday, March 10's SmackDown saw Balor suffer a grade 2 calf tear during the episode which involved The Judgment Day battling against Legado del Fantasma in six-person action.
An injury of this nature usually comes with an average recovery time of between 6-8 weeks. But this is The Demon we're talking about. So, naturally, Balor found a way to bounce back from the injury in just three.
Balor's injury revelation post went as follows (H/T FWOnline.com):-
"On March 10th Ep of Smackdown I sustained a grade 2 calf tear.Normal recovery time is estimated at 6-8 weeks. Hold my beer! With just 3 weeks & 2 days to Wrestlemania WWE medical team ‘threw the kitchen sink at it’ & with some careful planning, long days of rehab and a lot of swear words we made it back in time with a day or two spare! My wife said it best. ‘This injury has been the Demon of your career, and you need to over come this Demon to Release YOUR DEMON at Wrestlemania’ @verolaguera Special thanks to CJ for his incredible work ( and not taking a day off for 3 weeks) Extra mention to @docholmes & @athleanx for all their support."
Unfortunately for Balor, said battered calf wasn't the only problem he'd have to overcome during WrestleMania Season, with the painted Demon also being horrifically split open by Edge in their 'Mania 39 Hell in a Cell grudge match after a ladder was launched his way.
His reward for all those days of "long rehab" heading into The Show of Shows? Temporary staples and an injection to numb the pain during the contest and a total of 14 staples being put in his head afterwards.
What a Demon. Now go and have a well deserved lie down, Finn...
