WWE SummerSlam 2016: 10 Things You Might Have Missed

7. The Usos' Subtle Turn?

The Usos have been flotsam in WWE’s tag division for some time now. Since their last Tag Title reign ended, Jimmy & Jey have been bouncing around Raw and SmackDown with very little purpose. They served as Roman Reigns’ allies in his rivalry with The Club, but they’ve barely featured since the Brand Split, which is perhaps surprising given the paucity of big names on SmackDown’s tag scene.

At SummerSlam, The Usos were booed on arrival, and they played-up to it well throughout the show-opening 12-man tag team match. After American Alpha had downed Simon Gotch with their Grand Amplitude finisher, Jey hit a sneaky blind tag on Jason Jordan, then a splash on Gotch for the win, effectively stealing the pinfall from Alpha. There was clear tension between the two teams in the aftermath, and it looks like SmackDown finally has a significant tag feud to build the division around.

If this is indeed the direction WWE are headed, it could be exactly what The Usos need. As babyfaces, Jimmy and Jey are so stale that if you left them on a bird table, even the crows wouldn’t peck at them. Their actions were a very slight hint to a future turn, so here’s hoping WWE deliver.
