WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2025: 8 Nightmares That Could Come True

1. It’s Another So-So PLE For Triple H

What was the last truly remarkable WWE PLE? SummerSlam’s weekender? Far too many of these cards have been coming and going without much to shout about, and that includes heavily hyped matches like John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza. Cena vs. AJ Styles arguably saved Crown Jewel, and Clash In Paris (whilst it had highlights) was another definite ‘B’ show.

Survivor Series has that same air, unfortunately.

Hunter must arrest this run of mediocrity in 2025. This is really his last chance, but it doesn’t look good going in. There's plenty of hype surrounding John Cena's retirement and the 13 December Saturday Night's Main Event show, and yet...that isn't a full blown PLE. Survivor Series is. It should feel grander than it does. The aforementioned exhibition air given off by the titular WarGames matches isn't helping matters one bit.

Major red flags have been popping up about Hunter's booking all year, and they won't cease unless Survivors is a wall to wall banger of a card that delivers the way people expect top WWE PLEs to deliver. Naturally, even a flimsy looking card on paper can exceed expectations and turn out to be fabulous. That could happen, but it isn't guaranteed and in fact doesn't look all that likely.

Royal Rumble-WrestleMania season can't come soon enough for the company. They've been spewing out sometimes-enjoyable yet often-inconsequential events for a while now, and that cannot be allowed to continue. Triple H favours a slower pace than some bookers in the modern era, and rightly so, but there'd be nowhere to hide if the last big traditional supershow of 2025 was a stinker.
